Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
1. How hot does the sauna get?
Our wood-fired sauna typically operates between 75°C and 95°C. Temperature is monitored throughout sessions and adjusted based on comfort and safety. Water may be ladled onto the stones to create steam (löyly), increasing perceived heat.
2. Is the sauna supervised?
At public events, a trained Salvation Saunas staff member is always present to supervise operation, manage the stove, conduct safety briefings, and monitor wellbeing.
For private venue hires, a full operational and safety induction is conducted before handover. Written operating guidance is provided, and the responsible hirer must follow all safety instructions throughout use.
3. How many people can use the sauna at once?
The sauna accommodates up to 12 people, depending on the configuration hired. For public sessions, capacity is strictly controlled to prevent overcrowding and maintain a comfortable, safe environment.
4. How long should I stay inside?
We recommend:
-
5–15 minutes per round
-
Followed by cooling down and hydration
-
Repeat up to 2–3 times
Always listen to your body. Exit immediately if you feel dizzy, nauseous, or uncomfortable.
5. Is it safe?
Yes, when used responsibly.
Our units include:
-
Heat shielding around the stove
-
Twin-wall insulated flue systems
-
Fire-resistant hearth protection
-
Carbon monoxide alarms

Clearly defined exclusion zones around the stove
All sessions operate under a formal risk assessment and safety protocol suitable for London public environments.
